MALTA GAMING AUTHORITY TO PARTNER NLA ON TRAINING PROGRAMS
Upon completion of successful negotiations with the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA), NLA Staff in the Operations, IT, Marketing, and Legal Compliance Departments will benefit from annual training programs to enhance their skills.
When finalized, about 10 to 15 Staff can visit NLA’s mother Authority every year to understudy their counterparts and learn from best practices.
The Director-General, Mr. Samuel Awuku proposed this idea to the former President of Malta, H.E. Dr. George Vella during his official visit to NLA in March 2024.
On the recommendation of H.E. Dr. Vella, the DG, and DDG, Ms. Anna Horma Miezah accompanied by Ghana’s High Commissioner to Malta, H.E Barbara Akuorkor Benisa followed up to hold discussions with the President of the MGA, Mr. Charles Mizzi, and his team on exploring the partnership between NLA and MGA.
The objective of the visit was to explore ways where NLA can learn from the success story of MGA in the fight against illegal lottery operations, improve on Good Causes and training programs for NLA Staff.
Mr. Awuku also proposed for representatives of MGA to visit NLA to witness its operations.
The Manager for International Affairs and Policy, Ms. Martina Cilia commended the NLA for reconnecting with MGA and seeking to learn about the changes being implemented in the gaming industry.
While in Malta, the DG and DDG also took the opportunity to visit the former President,
HE. Dr Vella and his wife to thank them for honoring the NLA during their official visit to Ghana.
They had great interactions and presented them with gifts from Ghana.
On the sidelines of meetings with MGA and former President H.E Dr. Vella, the DG and DDG also met with the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs and Trade, Dr. Ian Borg.
